NAIF is pleased to announce availability of the suite of version N66 Toolkits. The primary new component is the first official release of the tessellated plate portion of the Digital Shape Kernel (DSK). Other new or revised capabilities are documented in the “whats.new” text file associated with each Toolkit download package. You can find the new Toolkit packages in the usual locations on the NAIF server, starting from here: https://naif.jpl.nasa.gov/naif/toolkit.html

These toolkits are backwards compatible with previous toolkit releases: you should be able to relink any SPICE-aware application to the appropriate N66 Toolkit libraries and expect that application to work as before.

The DSK capabilities available during the alpha-test stage have been retained, while additional DSK APIs and utilities have been added.

NAIF strongly encourages you to switch to the N66 Toolkit appropriate for your computing environment as soon as convenient. (Pay attention to selecting the 32-bit or 64-bit version, as appropriate for your hardware!)

A SPICE Newsletter providing additional information about the N66 Toolkits and a number of other NAIF and SPICE topics is also available, in PDF format, from this location: https://naif.jpl.nasa.gov/naif/SPICE_News_April_2017.pdf

-- Best regards from the NAIF Team
