Just a reminder... a new leapsecond will take effect at midnight on December 31, 2008.

For SPICE users, if you haven't already downloaded and installed the new Leapsecond Kernel (LSK), named naif0009,
now would be a good time to do so. You can find this new kernel (one for Unix/Linux/Mac, another for Windows platforms)
on the NAIF server: ftp://naif.jpl.nasa.gov/pub/naif/generic_kernels/lsk/

(Installing it ahead of time-ahead of Dec 31-is not a problem.)

NAIF suggests you search for and remove (delete) any instances of older LSK files, just to be safe.

We at NAIF look forward to continuing our work in support of the international space science community in 2009,
no matter if the Earth's rotation rate is changing!
