KPL/IK KPLO PolCam Instrument kernel =========================================================================== This IK file contains the instrument geometric parameters for the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) Wide-Angle Polarimetric Camera (PolCam) instrument. Version and Date --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 0.2 -- July 28, 2019 -- Boris Semenov, NAIF/JPL Changed ID codes (-155201 -> -155111, -155202 -> -155112), and all keywords incorporating them, to be consistent with [4]. Changed FOV definitions to match the KPLO_POLCAM-L and KPLO_POLCAM-R frames defined in [4]. Version 0.1 -- Aug 1, 2018 -- Minsup Jeong, KASI References --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. "Kernel Pool Required Reading" 2. "PolCam O-Box design Document" 3. "LROC IK file" 4. KPLO FK "kplo_frames_20190728_v00.tf" Contact Information --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Direct questions, comments or concerns about the contents of this kernel should be sent to: Minsup Jeong, KASI, msjeong@kasi.re.kr Naming Conventions --------------------------------------------------------------------------- All names referencing values in this I-kernel start with the characters 'INS' followed by the NAIF KPLO spacecraft ID number (-155 ) and then followed by a NAIF three digit code for an PolCam (PolCam-L = 111, PolCam-R = 112). The remainder of the name is an underscore character followed by the unique name of the data item. For example, the boresight direction in the PolCam Left camera frame is specified by: INS-155111_BORESIGHT The upper bound on the length of the name of any data item identifier is 32 characters. If the same item is included in more than one file, or if the same item appears more than once within a single file, the latest value supersedes any earlier values. Description -------------------------------------------------------------- From [2] Swath width: 35 km Spatial resolution (GSD): ~80 m Effective focal length: 70 mm Field of view: 9.9 degree (swath) Aperture: 14 mm F number: 5.5 Color filters (both of optics): 320, 430, 750 nm Polarization filters (both of optics) : 430 nm - 0, 60, 120 degree 750 nm - 0, 90 degree Detector (CCD): 1024 x 6, 13 micron - Notes - PolCam has two optics systems, both of which are 45 degree tilted from nadir to the right and left direction (see the inserted figure above). The tilt allows us to obtain phase angles larger than 90 degree. Polarization filters are attached to 430 nm and 750 nm color filters, but not to 320 nm filters. Thus two optics have a configuration of 430nm/0degree, 430nm/60degree, 430nm/120degree, 750nm/0degree, 750nm/90degree, 320nm/bare, respectively. The unusual combination of polarization angles, 0, 90, 60 and 120 degree is to minimize the data transmission rate. For 430 nm, 0, 60 and 120 degree images will be transmitted to obtain both degree and angle of polarization, whereas only 0 and 90 degree images will be transmitted for 750 nm.
