PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = ASCII PUBLICATION_DATE = 2022-09-26 NOTE = "C-Kernel Information" END_OBJECT = TEXT END General information about SPICE C-kernels ========================================= In the SPICE system, pointing data for an instrument platform, or for a specific instrument, are stored C-kernels. The pointing of a platform or an instrument is often expressed in terms of a transformation matrix from some standard inertial reference frame to a instrument-fixed frame. In the past, the instrument was often a camera, and the transformation was thus dubbed the ``C-matrix''; hence the choice of C as the name for the pointing kernel. The data contained in C-kernel files can be accessed and manipulated by a collection of FORTRAN 77 subroutines which are part of the SPICELIB library. These subroutines can be integrated into user application programs. The SPICE system toolkit for a number of computer platforms or information regarding how it can be obtained is located in the SOFTWARE subdirectory of the main directory of this dataset. To use C-kernels, a Spacecraft Clock Kernel (SCLK) is required. Also, for C-Kernels containing orientation of a project-defined frames, a Frame Definitions File is required. Refer to the CK.REQ document provided with the toolkit or available from the NAIF Node of PDS if SPICE toolkit is not included with this data set to get more information on how to access C-kernel data. Odyssey (M01) C-kernels contained in this volume ====================================== This volume contains the SPICE C-Kernel files for the Odyssey spacecraft, its solar arrays and high gain antenna. All files are in IEEE binary format and suitable for ftp binary transfer to use on UNIX workstations and MACs. The following files are present in this volume. (Only file names are shown; the file name extensions of the binary CK files are always ".bc"): -- Odyssey Spacecraft Orientation CK Files: m01_sc_PPPPPP_vN Odyssey spacecraft reconstructed orientation CK files for the cruise, aerobraking, mapping, and extended phases of the mission. The letter ``N'' indicates the file version. The letters ``PPPPPP'' indicate the mission phase or a portion of the mission phase covered by the file and map to the actual coverage dates as follows: Part of Map Start UTC Stop UTC ----------- ---------- ---------- cru1 2001-04-07 2001-06-30 cru2 2001-07-01 2001-08-31 cru3 2001-09-01 2001-10-23 ab0110 2001-10-24 2001-10-31 ab0111 2001-11-01 2001-11-30 ab0112 2001-12-01 2001-12-31 ab0201 2002-01-01 2002-01-31 ab0202 2002-02-01 2002-02-18 map1 2002-02-19 2002-03-31 (1) map2 2002-04-01 2002-06-30 map3 2002-07-01 2002-09-30 map4 2002-10-01 2002-12-31 map5 2003-01-01 2003-03-31 map6 2003-04-01 2003-06-30 map7 2003-07-01 2003-09-30 map8 2003-10-01 2003-12-31 map9 2004-01-01 2004-03-31 map10 2004-04-01 2004-06-30 map11 2004-07-01 2004-09-30 (2) ext1 2004-10-01 2004-12-31 (2) ext2 2005-01-01 2005-03-31 ext3 2005-04-01 2005-06-30 ext4 2005-07-01 2005-09-30 ext5 2005-10-01 2005-12-31 ext6 2006-01-01 2006-03-31 ext7 2006-04-01 2006-06-30 ext8 2006-07-01 2006-09-30 ext9 2006-10-01 2006-12-31 ext10 2007-01-01 2007-03-31 ext11 2007-04-01 2007-06-30 ext12 2007-07-01 2007-09-30 ext13 2007-10-01 2007-12-31 ext14 2008-01-01 2008-03-31 ext15 2008-04-01 2008-06-30 ext16 2008-07-01 2008-09-30 ext17 2008-10-01 2008-12-31 ext18 2009-01-01 2009-03-31 ext19 2009-04-01 2009-06-30 ext20 2009-07-01 2009-09-30 ext21 2009-10-01 2009-12-31 ext22 2010-01-01 2010-03-31 ext23 2010-04-01 2010-06-30 ext24 2010-07-01 2010-09-30 ext25 2010-10-01 2010-12-31 ext26 2011-01-01 2011-03-31 ext27 2011-04-01 2011-06-30 ext28 2011-07-01 2011-09-30 ext29 2011-10-01 2011-12-31 ext30 2012-01-01 2012-03-31 ext31 2012-04-01 2012-06-30 ext32 2012-07-01 2012-09-30 ext33 2012-10-01 2012-12-31 ext34 2013-01-01 2013-03-31 ext35 2013-04-01 2013-06-30 ext36 2013-07-01 2013-09-30 ext37 2013-10-01 2013-12-31 ext38 2014-01-01 2014-03-31 ext39 2014-04-01 2014-06-30 ext40 2014-07-01 2014-09-30 ext41 2014-10-01 2014-12-31 ext42 2015-01-01 2015-03-31 ext43 2015-04-01 2015-06-30 ext44 2015-07-01 2015-09-30 ext45 2015-10-01 2015-12-31 ext46 2016-01-01 2016-03-31 ext47 2016-04-01 2016-06-30 ext48 2016-07-01 2016-09-30 ext49 2016-10-01 2016-12-31 ext50 2017-01-01 2017-03-31 ext51 2017-04-01 2017-06-30 ext52 2017-07-01 2017-09-30 ext53 2017-10-01 2017-12-31 ext54 2018-01-01 2018-03-31 ext55 2018-04-01 2018-06-30 ext56 2018-07-01 2018-09-30 ext57 2018-10-01 2018-12-31 ext58 2019-01-01 2019-03-31 ext59 2019-04-01 2019-06-30 ext60 2019-07-01 2019-09-30 ext61 2019-10-01 2019-12-31 ext62 2020-01-01 2020-03-31 ext63 2020-04-01 2020-06-30 ext64 2020-07-01 2020-09-30 ext65 2020-10-01 2020-12-31 ext66 2021-01-01 2021-03-31 ext67 2021-04-01 2021-06-30 ext68 2021-07-01 2021-09-30 ext69 2021-10-01 2021-12-31 ext70 2022-01-01 2022-03-31 ext71 2022-04-01 2022-06-30 ext72 2022-07-01 2022-09-30 ext73 2022-10-01 2022-12-31 ext74 2023-01-01 2023-03-31 ext75 2023-04-01 2023-06-30 ext76 2023-07-01 2023-09-30 ext77 2023-10-01 2023-12-31 (1) the first mapping file, ``map1'', is shorter than three months to align the file coverage boundaries with the project-wide archive period cut-off dates. (2) although the extended mission started in August 2004, ``map11'' file goes through the end of September and ``ext1'' file starts on October 1 to keep the file coverage begins/ends at three month boundaries. Note that ``m01_sc_map1'' released in June 2002 and covering through 2002-05-31 has been replaced with two files containing exactly same data -- ``m01_sc_map1_v2'' covering through 2002-03-31 and ``m01_sc_map2'' covering from 2002-04-01. This was done to align the file coverage boundaries with the project-wide archive period cut-off dates, as requested by the project's DAWG. The same was done with ``map1'' SA and HGA CKs. m01_sc_PPPPPP_rec_nadir Odyssey spacecraft predicted nominal nadir-pointed orientation CK files for the mapping and extended phases of the mission. The letters ``PPPPPP'' indicate the portion of the mission phase covered by the file in the same way as for the reconstructed CKs. Refer to the internal comments provided in these files for details regarding files' intended usage. m01_sc_PPPPPP_rec_roto_vN Odyssey spacecraft predicted nominal orientation CK files for ROTO observations during the extended phases of the mission. The letters ``PPPPPP'' indicate the portion of the mission phase covered by the file in the same way as for the reconstructed CKs. The letter ``N'' indicates the file version. Refer to the internal comments provided in these files for details regarding files' intended usage. -- Odyssey Solar Array Orientation CK Files: m01_sa_PPPPPP Odyssey solar array reconstructed orientation CK files. The letters following ``PPPPPP'' indicate the portion of the mission phase covered by the file and map to the actual coverage dates as defined by the table above. The letter ``N'' indicates the file version. -- Odyssey High Gain Antenna Orientation CK Files: m01_hga_PPPPPP Odyssey high gain antenna reconstructed orientation CK files. The letters ``PPPPPP'' indicate the portion of the mission phase covered by the file and maps to the actual coverage dates as defined by the table above. The letter ``N'' indicates the file version.
