PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = ASCII PUBLICATION_DATE = 2004-08-04 NOTE = "I-Kernel Information" END_OBJECT = TEXT END General information about SPICE I-kernels ========================================= In the SPICE system, I-kernels contains instrument parameters such as field-of-view size, shape, and orientation, timing information, detector and filter attributes, etc. The data contained in I-kernel files can be accessed and manipulated by subroutines which are part of the SPICE library, the major component of the SPICE Toolkit. The SPICE subroutines can be integrated into user application programs. Information regarding how the Toolkit can be obtained is located in the SOFTWARE subdirectory of the main directory of this dataset. Refer to the KERNEL.REQ document provided with the Toolkit to get more information on how to access I-kernel data. MER-2 I-kernels provided on this volume ========================================== The following MER I-Kernel files are provided on this volume (only the name portion of the file name is shown; the extension part of all file names is ".ti"): mer2_CC[_fF]_YYYYMMDD_cHHH MER-2 camera IK files. These files are named according to the following convention: mer2 ----- for MER-2 rover CC ------- camera acronym: fl -- Front HAZCAM, Left fr -- Front HAZCAM, Right mi -- Microscopic Imager nl -- NAVCAM, Left nr -- NAVCAM, Right pl -- PANCAM, Left pr -- PANCAM, Right rl -- Rear HAZCAM, Left rr -- Rear HAZCAM, Right F -------- optional filter ID (F=1..8) YYYYMMDD - IK creation date HHH ------ CAHVOR(E) model ID for the model from which the IK data were derived No I-Kernel files for Miniature Thermal Emission Spectrometer (MiniTES), Moessbauer Spectrometer (MB), Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS), or Descent Camera (DESCAM) are provided on this volume. Kernel file details =================== The most detailed description of the data in an IK file is provided in metadata included inside the description area of the file. This information can be viewed using any text editor program.
