PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = ASCII PUBLICATION_DATE = 2003-10-15 NOTE = "FRAMES Kernel Information" END_OBJECT = TEXT END General information about SPICE FRAMES kernels ============================================== In the SPICE system, FRAMES kernel contains a set of information required to define various frames used in a particular mission, sources of orientation and origin location information for these frames and inter-connections between these frames and other frames supported within the SPICE system. The frame definitions information contained in the file can be utilized by a collection of FORTRAN 77 subroutines to provide correct interpretation for the SPICE data from SP- and C-kernels. These subroutines are part of the SPICELIB library. The SPICE system toolkit for a number of computer platforms or information regarding how it can be obtained is located in the SOFTWARE sub-directory of the main directory of this data set. Refer to the FRAMES.REQ document provided with the toolkit or available from the NAIF Node of PDS if SPICE toolkit is not included with this data set to get more information about definition and usage of the frames within SPICE system. DS1 FRAMES Kernel contained in this directory ============================================= This directory contains the SPICE Frames Kernel files for the DS1 spacecraft and its science instruments. All files are in IEEE text format and must be copied using ftp ASCII transfer to any non-UNIX workstation. The following files are present in this directory. (Only file names are shown; the file name extensions of the text Frames Kernel files are always ".tf"): ds1_v70 DS1 Frames kernel files containing definitions for DS1 spacecraft, its solar arrays, antennas and science instruments; Kernel File Details =================== The most detailed description of the data in an FK file is provided in metadata included inside the description area of the file. This information can be viewed using any text editor program.
