Starting with the SPICE Toolkit version N0066, DSKs can be accessed by subroutines that are part of the SPICE library, the major component of the SPICE Toolkit. For earlier Toolkits, before N0066, DSKs can be accessed by subroutines from a special library called DSKLIB. These subroutines can be integrated into user application programs. The SPICE system toolkit for a number of computer platforms or information regarding how it can be obtained is located in the ``/software'' subdirectory of the main directory of this data set. To use DS-kernels, Leapseconds (LSK), a Frame Definitions Kernel (FK), Planetary Constants Kernel (PcK), and possibly even C-Kernel (CK) files may also be required. Refer to the ``dsk.req'' document provided with the Toolkit to get more information on how to access DS-kernel data. DAWN DS-kernels Contained in This Data Set ========================================== The following DAWN DS-kernels are provided in this data set (only name portion of the file name is shown; the extension of all file names is ``.bds''): Vesta Shape DSK Files: No Vesta Shape DSK Files are currently provided in this data set. Ceres Shape DSK Files: dawn_ceres_dlr_m135_[area]_v1 DSKs that comprise the 135-m spatial resolution Ceres shape plate model produced in 2017 by the DAWN FC Team, DLR. The [area] token in the name indicates the part of the surface (planetocentric longitude-latitude box) covered by an individual DSK file, given in the ``mnlmxlmntmxt'' format where ``mnl'' is the minimum longitude, ``mxl'' is the maximum longitude, ``mnt'' is the minimum latitude, and ``mxt'' is the maximum latitude. For example ``p30p36m3p0'' stands for [+300:+360] longitude - [-30:+00] latitude box. dawn_ceres_grv_icq[NNNN]_v2 DSKs containing different resolutions of the Ceres shape plate model in Implicitly Connected Quadrilateral (ICQ) format, produced in 2018 by the DAWN Gravity Team, JPL, The [NNNN] token in the name indicates the ICQ model's ``Q'' number determining the number of plates (0128 - ~200K plates, 0256 - ~800K plates, 0512 - ~3M plates, 1024 - ~12M plates). dawn_ceres_grv_m300_[area]_v1 DSKs that comprise the 300-m spatial resolution Ceres shape plate model produced in 2018 by the DAWN Gravity Team, JPL. The [area] token in the name indicates the part of the surface covered by an individual DSK file, and can be ``north_cap'', ``south_cap'', or (planetocentric longitude-latitude box), given in the ``mnlmxlmntmxt'' format where ``mnl'' is the minimum longitude, ``mxl'' is the maximum longitude, ``mnt'' is the minimum latitude, and ``mxt'' is the maximum latitude. For example ``m18m09m0p9'' stands for [-180:-090] longitude - [-00:+90] latitude box. dawn_ceres_grv_m100_[area]_v1 DSKs that comprise the 100-m spatial resolution Ceres shape plate model produced in 2018 by the DAWN Gravity Team, JPL. For example ``p03p06m0p3'' stands for [+030:+060] longitude - [-00:+30] latitude box. Kernel File Details =================== The most detailed description of the data in a binary DSK file is provided in metadata included inside the comment area of the file.
