Summary -------------------------------------------------------- This "aareadme.txt" file describes the contents of the "kernels/ck" directory of the PHSRM SPICE data server. It also provides the file naming conventions used for the PHSRM CK kernels, instructions for getting additional information about a CK file, and contact information for PHSRM CK producers. Directory Contents -------------------------------------------------------- This directory contains the following files and subdirectories: phsrm_sc_test2_111108_130214_v00.bc CK file containing example PHSRM spacecraft orientation data provided by NPOL in March 2011, covering cruise from Earth to Mars, three-day orbit around Mars, observation orbit around Mars, and quasi synchronous orbit around Mars. former_versions Subdirectory containing obsolete versions of the CK files and other files used for creating CK. aareadme.txt This file. aareadme_ru.txt This file in Russian. File Naming Conventions -------------------------------------------------------- The PHSRM spacecraft orientation CKs provided in this directory are named as follows phsrm_sc_TYPE_YYMMDD_YYMMDD[_NOTE][_vNN].bc where TYPE is the data type (test, nom, pred, rec) YYMMDD are the coverage start and stop date _NOTE is the optional note _vNN is the optional version (e.g. 00, 01) The instrument orientation CKs provided in this directory are named as follows phsrm_INST_TYPE_YYMMDD_YYMMDD[_NOTE][_vNN].bc where INST is the instrument name or acronym TYPE is the data type (test, nom, pred, rec) YYMMDD are the coverage start and stop date _NOTE is the optional note _vNN is the optional version (e.g. 00, 01) Getting Additional Information About an CK File -------------------------------------------------------- The contents and time span covered by any CK file may be easily determined using the "ckbrief" utility program available in all copies of the SPICE Toolkit. Example of usage: $ ckbrief Descriptive information about how/why/when an CK file was created is usually available in the "comment area" of the file. This may be viewed using the "commnt" utility program available in all copies of the SPICE Toolkit. Use the "-r" option to read the comments.
