SPICE Data for Phobos 88 (01/1989 to 03/1989) -------------------------------------------------------- This set of data consists only of two trajectory files for the Russian Phobos 2 (Phobos 88) spacecraft. One of these -- iam_r2.bsp -- was produced by the Keldyish Institute of Mathematics (KIAM) as a test of making SPK files. It contains the orbit of the Phobos 2 spacecraft relative to the Mars barycenter for the approximate period 1989 JAN 29 13:00 to 1989 MAR 31 20:00. The second is a merge of the former with NASA/JPL ephemerides for Mars' natural satellites Phobos and Deimos and ephemerides for Mars, the earth and the sun. Accuracy of the Phobos 2 trajectory data is unknown. Contact with the spacecraft was permanently lost during Mars orbit. Because the spacecraft ID for Phobos 2 was reused by NASA, SPICE ID translation software makes it appear as this SPK data is for the Japanese spacecraft HALCA.
