Eros Plate Model File -- 1708 Plates

Abstract
--------------------------------------------------------
 
     This EK file contains data representing the shape of Eros using a
     collection of triangular plates.
 
     The data in the file can be accessed with the routines provided in the
     SPICE plate library, ``platelib'', developed specifically for NEAR.
     This library is used to perform geometric calculations related to
     fields of view, observing geometry, etc. This library can be obtained
     by contacting NAIF. Note that the MAXVRT parameter in the plate
     library's master include file ``pltmax.inc'' may need to be adjusted
     to be greater than the number of vertices stored in this model (856),
     and the library to be recompiled before it can be used with this file.
 
     Since this file is an EK file, the data it can also be viewed with
     ``INSPEKT'' utility program provided with generic SPICE toolkit.
 
 
Pedigree

     This file contains the plate model data from Eros shape model
     ``eros_2001012_001708.tab'' file archived on the ``NIEROS_4001''
     volume of the NEAR MSI archive. This file was created using ``MKPLAT''
     program version 2.0.2. The label information from the source data has
     been included into the description table of the file.
