The orientation of the 'MRO_SAMX_INNER_GIMBAL' is given with respect to the 'MRO_SAMX_BASEPLATE' frame; the orientation of the 'MRO_SAMX_OUTER_GIMBAL' is given with respect to the 'MRO_SAMX_INNER_GIMBAL' frame; the orientation of the 'MRO_SAPX_INNER_GIM BAL' is given with respect to the 'MRO_SAPX_BASEPLATE' frame; the orientation of the 'MRO_SAPX_OUTER_GIMBAL' is given with respect to the 'MRO_SAPX_INNER_GIMBAL' frame Status -------------------------------------------------------- This file is a regular operational predicted C-Kernel file created by NAIF. It is based on the SAMX and SAPX gimbal angles extracted from the corresponding simulated ACS data DRF file produced by LMA using AtArPs tool. Pedigree -------------------------------------------------------- This CK file was generated by an automated process. This process extracts SAMX and SAPX gimbal angles computed by AtArPs from a DRF file delivered to the MRO project database (DOM) and converts them to quaternions and writes them to a CK file using MSOPCK program. Angular Rates -------------------------------------------------------- Since MRO predicted ACS data does not contain angular rate data for the gimbals, the angular rates stored in this file were computed from the orientation information. The angular rate for each orientation point was computed as average of two rates -- constant angular rate that would rotate from previous point to that point and constant angular rate that would rotate from that point to the next point. Because the angular rates stored in two adjacent points in most cases are not the same, and CK readers linearly interpolate between them, the output angular rates in general will never be constant between any two adjacent data points stored in the file. Approximate Time Coverage -------------------------------------------------------- This file is a type 3 CK file (segment) which provides linear interpolation between orientation data points extracted from simulated ACS data DRF file. Because this file contains predicted data such interpolation is applied to the whole coverage of the file . Usage Note -------------------------------------------------------- In order to use this file an MRO SCLK file, containing coefficients mapping MRO on-board time to ET, standard LSK file, providing UTC to ET mapping, and MRO Frame Definitions file, containing definitions of the frames orientation of which is provided in this CK file, must be loaded into a user program. This CK was created with and must be used with the LSK kernel naif0012.tls. This CK was created with and must be used with the SCLK kernel MRO_SCLKSCET.00098.tsc.
