Brief summary -------------------------------------------------------- This directory contains the SPICE SP-Kernel files for the MPL lander. All files are in IEEE binary format and suitable for ftp binary transfer to use on UNIX workstations and MACs. The following files are present in this directory. (Only file names are shown; the file name extensions of the binary SPK files are always ".bsp"): MPL Lander trajectory/landed location SPK files: mpl_cruise final lander Cruise trajectory SPK file covering the whole cruise phase of the mission, created by NAIF by merging regular OD solution SPK files produced by MSOP NAV team; mpl_edl_target final predict target EDL trajectory SPK file covering the EDL phase of the mission -- from the atmospheric entry time through the touchdown time -- created by NAIF from the final predicted AEP state file provided by MPL Mission Engineering Group; mpl_surf_target lander final target surface location SPK file covering from touchdown time through the end of the first year of surface operation, created by NAIF from the final point in the final predicted AEP state file provided by MPL Mission Engineering Group; MPL Surface Translation SPK file: mpl_surf_transl SPK file containing SURFACE_FIXED frame origin translation with respect to the Lander starting from touchdown time through the end of the first year of surface operation, created by NAIF; this is nominal "zero-translation" file; MPL Structures SPK file: mpl_structures latest MPL Lander and science instrument structure location SPK file, created by NAIF from multiple CAD inputs; Generic planet and satellite ephemerides SPK file: mar033-5 contains ephemerides for Sun, Earth, Mars and Martian satellites for period from 1998 though 2005; Archived Files -------------------------------------------------------- Original MSOP NAV regular OD solution Cruise SPK files and miscellaneous test SPK files created during dry-runs and ORTs are archived on CD-ROM and not present in this directory. Refer to the ``archived.txt'' file in this directory for a complete list of these files.
