     This file contains ephemeris data for the Mars Express (MEX)
     spacecraft (NAIF ID -41) with respect to Mars (NAIF ID 499) in 
     mean Mars Equator and IAU vector of J2000 inertial frame (MARSIAU).

Status

     This file is a sample MEX SPK intended to be used for SPICE interface 
     testing and preliminary analysis needs.

 
Pedigree
--------------------------------------------------------
 
     This file was created using data from the MAPPS tool orbit data file, 
     which was placed on the ESTEC MEX server on September 12, 2002 (livelink 
     server, MarsExpress/Tools/MAPPS/MAPPS_v3.0_FGT directory.) The data
     in the source file represented the frozen ground track orbit.

     The following steps were followed in the process of creating 
     this file:

        -- MAPPS input file "mars_orbits.asc" was reformatted to convert 
           pericenter time tag from J2000-based JD to complete JD and to 
           remove apocenter time and orbit number;

        -- Reformatted file was than used as input to MKSPK program which 
           created this SPK.
