MEX DSK SPICE Kernels
  =====================

   This "aareadme.txt" file describes the contents of the kernels/dsk
   directory of the MARS-EXPRESS SPICE data server. It also provides the file
   naming conventions used for the MARS-EXPRESS DSK kernels.

   The contents and time span covered by any DSK file may be easily determined
   using the "dskbrief" utility program available in all copies of the
   SPICE Toolkit. Examples of usage:

     %dskbrief  <dsk_file_name>


   Descriptive information about how/why/when an DSK file was created is
   usually available in the "comment area" of the file. This may be viewed
   using the "commnt" utility program available in all copies of the
   SPICE Toolkit. Use the "-r" option to read the comments. Example:

     %commnt -r <dsk_file_name>


   All binary DSK files (*.BDS) contained in this directory are unix binary
   files. These may be used as is (without format conversion) in a non-unix
   environment when using any recent version of the SPICE Toolkit (Version
   N0066 or later).

  Mars Express DSK Directory Structure
  ====================================

  aareadme.txt            This file.

  MEX_SC_STRUC_Vvv.BDS    SPICE Kernel (DSK) file for
                          Mars Express structures where
                          STRUC identifier for
                          structure/instrument is:

                            BUS:  for the s/c bus;
                            SAPY: for the solar array in
                            the +Y direction;
                            SAMY: for the solar array in
                            the -Y direction.

  If multiple versions of a DS-Kernel file are provided, always use the
  latest version (unless earlier version is needed for some special
  reasons.)

  PHOBOS_K137_DLR_V01.BDS        SPICE Kernel (DSK) that contains Phobos
                                 shape data based on Mars Express HRSC
                                 images.

  PHOBOS_M001_GAS_V01.BDS        SPICE Kernel (DSK) that contains Phobos
                                 shape data by Robert Gaskell based on
                                 Viking Orbiter 1 VIS-A and VIS-B camera
                                 images.

  DEIMOS_K002_THO_V01.BDS        SPICE Kernel (DSK) that contains Deimos
                                 shape data by Peter Thomas based on
                                 Viking Orbiter images.

  MARS_M129_MOL_V01.BDS          SPICE Kernel (DSK) that contains Mars
                                 shape data based on Mars Global Surveyor
                                 MOLA downsized to 1 pixel per degree data
                                 processed and generated by Nat Bachman.

  *.OBJ                          Each DSK has an ASCII vertex-facet
                                 format output file for visualization
                                 purposes (these files can be previewed
                                 natively in modern Operating Systems).

  *.PNG                          Each DSK has an image example in png
                                 format for convenience.
