MER Frames Kernel files.

     This ``aareadme.txt'' file describes contents of the kernels/fk
     directory of the MER SPICE data server. It was last modified on
     February 19, 2003. Contact Chuck Acton (818-354-3869,

Brief summary
--------------------------------------------------------
 
     This directory contains the SPICE Frames Kernel files for the MER
     rovers. All files are in IEEE text format and must be copied using ftp
     ASCII transfer to any non-UNIX workstation. The following files are
     present in this directory. (Only file names are shown; the file name
     extensions of the text Frames Kernel files are always ".tf"):
 
           mer(1,2)_vNN                     MER-1 and MER-2 ``master''
                                            frames kernel files containing
                                            definitions for MER surface,
                                            rover, rover structures and
                                            science instrument frames;
 
           mer(1,2)_tp_[LSITE]_iau2000_vN   MER-1 and MER-2 topocentric
                                            frame definition FK files for
                                            individual landing sites. Until
                                            the final landing site
                                            selection is made, one of these
                                            files must be loaded together
                                            with ``master'' frames kernel
                                            in order to complete ``Mars
                                            fixed-to-Local Level'' frame
                                            transformation chain.
 
     If multiple versions of a Frames Kernel file are provided, always use
     the latest version (unless earlier version is needed for some special
     reasons.)
