2001 Mars Odyssey Mapping SPK file, M01 NAV Solution =========================================================================== Created by Boris Semenov, NAIF/JPL, August 13, 2004 Objects in the Ephemeris -------------------------------------------------------- This file contains ephemeris data for 2001 Mars Odyssey (M01) spacecraft. NAIF ID code for M01 is -53. Approximate Time Coverage -------------------------------------------------------- This file covers the following part of the Mapping phase of the M01 mission: COVERAGE BEGIN TIME (TDB): 2004 APR 01 00:00:00.000 COVERAGE END TIME (TDB): 2004 JUL 01 01:00:00.000 Status -------------------------------------------------------- This file was created by merging regular reconstructed OD solution SPK files produced by M01 NAV during Mapping phase of the mission. The file was created by NAIF for archiving with the Planetary Data System (PDS). Pedigree -------------------------------------------------------- The original SPK files used to create this file contained only reconstructed trajectory. They were officially delivered to the M01 project data base (FIS/DOM) by M01 NAV. The list of the original files data from which has been merged into this file is provided in the Appendix 1 of these comments. Segment Boundary Discontinuities -------------------------------------------------------- This SPK file contains a large number of SPK segments that came from original individual SPK files. Although, each segment provides continuous trajectory within the interval that it covers, in general a position and velocity discontinuity exists at the boundary of the segment and the segments whose coverage immediately precede and follow it. The times and magnitudes of these discontinuities are provided in the Appendix 2 of these comments. Usage -------------------------------------------------------- This file should be used together with DE405 planetary ephemeris since the original SPK files contained subsets of these particular ephemeris in them. Although, each segment provides continuous trajectory within the interval that it covers, in general a position and velocity discontinuity exists at the boundary of the segment and the segments whose coverage immediately precede and follow it. The times and magnitudes of these discontinuities are provided in the table included in this Appendix. The top portion of the table contains the name of this SPK file. All descriptive lines in the top portion of the file start with the ``#'' character to allow direct plotting of the data in the freeware ``gnuplot'' application. The table consists of 5 columns. The first column is the orbit number within which a segment boundary with discontinuity occurs. The next column contains the UTC time of that segment boundary. The last three columns (3..5) contain view coordinate frame components -- ``down track'' (this direction is parallel to the velocity vector), ``normal to plane'' (this direction is computed as cross product of position vector by velocity vector) and ``in plane'' (this direction is computed as a cross product of ``down track'' by ``normal to plane'') -- of the difference between the state vectors computed at that UTC time defining segment boundary at which a discontinuity exists. The pairs of segments and discontinuity times are determined using an algorithm that emulates the standard SPK loading priority -- ``last loaded segment takes precedence''. Therefore, the discontinuities summarized in the file are those which a user reading file would actually see. The difference components in the view coordinate frame were computed for each discontinuity using the following algorithm: -- A single state was computed from each pair of segment the J2000 frame at the time of discontinuity. -- For this pair of states, a position difference vector was computed by subtracting the state computed from the segment with higher priority from the state computed from segment with lower priority. Then, a frame transformation matrix rotating these difference vectors from J2000 to the view coordinate frame defined by the state obtained from the higher priority segment was computed, and the position difference vector was rotated to the view frame coordinates using this matrix. The segment boundary discontinuities for this file are: # # Summary of discontinuities at segment boundaries for # SPK file m01_map10.bsp: # #ORBNUM BOUNDARY TIME (UTC) DOWNTRK INPLANE NORMAL #------- ----------------------- ------- ------- ------- 10186 2004-04-01T01:33:55.814 0.001 0.000 0.000 10206 2004-04-02T18:28:55.814 -0.026 -0.001 -0.003 10231 2004-04-04T18:58:55.814 -0.027 -0.000 0.004 10251 2004-04-06T10:58:55.814 -0.025 -0.000 0.003 10274 2004-04-08T07:53:55.814 -0.038 0.000 0.005 10293 2004-04-09T21:28:55.814 0.025 -0.000 -0.003 10311 2004-04-11T09:38:55.814 0.026 0.000 -0.001 10332 2004-04-13T02:58:55.814 0.027 0.000 -0.003 10356 2004-04-15T01:28:55.814 0.006 0.000 0.001 10376 2004-04-16T16:58:55.814 -0.038 0.000 -0.003 10399 2004-04-18T14:58:55.814 0.028 -0.000 -0.003 10421 2004-04-20T10:58:55.814 0.003 -0.000 -0.000 10443 2004-04-22T04:58:55.814 -0.083 -0.000 -0.008 10465 2004-04-24T01:58:55.814 0.056 0.001 -0.002 10486 2004-04-25T19:13:55.814 0.084 -0.000 -0.007 10505 2004-04-27T09:13:55.814 0.066 0.001 0.001 10522 2004-04-28T17:48:55.814 0.005 -0.000 0.000 10543 2004-04-30T10:38:55.814 -0.094 -0.000 -0.006 10561 2004-05-01T23:18:55.814 -0.069 0.000 0.004 10582 2004-05-03T16:53:55.814 -0.010 0.001 0.001 10598 2004-05-04T23:58:55.814 0.007 -0.000 0.000 10618 2004-05-06T15:58:55.814 -0.127 0.001 0.005 10642 2004-05-08T15:28:55.814 -0.059 0.001 0.002 10661 2004-05-10T04:58:55.814 -0.053 0.000 0.002 10685 2004-05-12T03:18:55.814 0.067 0.001 0.001 10707 2004-05-14T00:18:55.814 -0.034 -0.000 0.001 10729 2004-05-15T19:23:55.814 -0.072 0.001 0.001 10748 2004-05-17T08:48:55.814 -0.057 0.000 -0.000 10766 2004-05-18T19:13:55.814 -0.017 -0.000 0.001 10787 2004-05-20T12:43:55.814 0.038 0.000 -0.002 10806 2004-05-22T02:18:55.814 0.042 0.000 -0.002 10826 2004-05-23T17:48:55.814 0.017 -0.000 -0.001 10844 2004-05-25T05:23:55.814 0.048 0.001 -0.003 10860 2004-05-26T12:58:55.814 0.053 0.001 -0.004 10880 2004-05-28T04:28:55.815 -0.036 -0.000 0.003 10900 2004-05-29T20:03:55.815 -0.085 -0.000 0.007 10922 2004-05-31T15:28:55.815 -0.107 -0.001 0.011 10945 2004-06-02T14:03:55.815 -0.079 0.000 -0.006 10966 2004-06-04T07:08:55.815 0.041 -0.000 0.004 10985 2004-06-05T19:58:55.815 0.072 0.000 -0.009 11005 2004-06-07T11:28:55.815 0.022 0.000 -0.003 11022 2004-06-08T21:03:55.815 0.071 0.001 -0.010 11042 2004-06-10T12:38:55.815 0.012 -0.000 -0.002 11063 2004-06-12T06:08:55.815 -0.031 -0.000 0.004 11084 2004-06-14T00:28:55.815 -0.062 0.000 -0.010 11101 2004-06-15T09:58:55.815 -0.002 -0.000 -0.000 11123 2004-06-17T04:38:55.815 0.040 0.000 -0.007 11143 2004-06-18T20:13:55.815 0.033 -0.000 -0.006 11165 2004-06-20T16:08:55.815 0.005 0.000 0.000 11185 2004-06-22T08:28:55.815 0.112 -0.000 0.010 11208 2004-06-24T05:48:55.815 0.067 -0.000 0.010 11229 2004-06-25T23:58:55.815 0.018 0.000 -0.004 11250 2004-06-27T17:03:55.815 -0.024 0.000 -0.000 11272 2004-06-29T12:28:55.815 -0.049 -0.000 -0.003
