2001 Mars Odyssey Extended SPK file, M01 NAV Solution =========================================================================== Created by Boris Semenov, NAIF/JPL, August 7, 2006 Objects in the Ephemeris -------------------------------------------------------- This file contains ephemeris data for 2001 Mars Odyssey (M01) spacecraft. NAIF ID code for M01 is -53. Approximate Time Coverage -------------------------------------------------------- This file covers the following part of the Extended phase of the M01 mission: COVERAGE BEGIN TIME (TDB): 2006 APR 01 00:00:00.000 COVERAGE END TIME (TDB): 2006 JUL 01 01:00:00.000 Status -------------------------------------------------------- This file was created by merging regular reconstructed OD solution SPK files produced by M01 NAV during Extended phase of the mission. The file was created by NAIF for archiving with the Planetary Data System (PDS). Pedigree -------------------------------------------------------- The original SPK files used to create this file contained only reconstructed trajectory. They were officially delivered to the M01 project data base (FIS/DOM) by M01 NAV. The list of the original files data from which has been merged into this file is provided in the Appendix 1 of these comments. Segment Boundary Discontinuities -------------------------------------------------------- This SPK file contains a large number of SPK segments that came from original individual SPK files. Although, each segment provides continuous trajectory within the interval that it covers, in general a position and velocity discontinuity exists at the boundary of the segment and the segments whose coverage immediately precede and follow it. The times and magnitudes of these discontinuities are provided in the Appendix 2 of these comments. Usage -------------------------------------------------------- This file should be used together with DE405 planetary ephemeris since the original SPK files contained subsets of these particular ephemeris in them. Although, each segment provides continuous trajectory within the interval that it covers, in general a position and velocity discontinuity exists at the boundary of the segment and the segments whose coverage immediately precede and follow it. The times and magnitudes of these discontinuities are provided in the table included in this Appendix. The top portion of the table contains the name of this SPK file. All descriptive lines in the top portion of the file start with the ``#'' character to allow direct plotting of the data in the freeware ``gnuplot'' application. The table consists of 5 columns. The first column is the orbit number within which a segment boundary with discontinuity occurs. The next column contains the UTC time of that segment boundary. The last three columns (3..5) contain view coordinate frame components -- ``down track'' (this direction is parallel to the velocity vector), ``normal to plane'' (this direction is computed as cross product of position vector by velocity vector) and ``in plane'' (this direction is computed as a cross product of ``down track'' by ``normal to plane'') -- of the difference between the state vectors computed at that UTC time defining segment boundary at which a discontinuity exists. The pairs of segments and discontinuity times are determined using an algorithm that emulates the standard SPK loading priority -- ``last loaded segment takes precedence''. Therefore, the discontinuities summarized in the file are those which a user reading file would actually see. The difference components in the view coordinate frame were computed for each discontinuity using the following algorithm: -- A single state was computed from each pair of segment the J2000 frame at the time of discontinuity. -- For this pair of states, a position difference vector was computed by subtracting the state computed from the segment with higher priority from the state computed from segment with lower priority. Then, a frame transformation matrix rotating these difference vectors from J2000 to the view coordinate frame defined by the state obtained from the higher priority segment was computed, and the position difference vector was rotated to the view frame coordinates using this matrix. The segment boundary discontinuities for this file are: # # Summary of discontinuities at segment boundaries for # SPK file m01_ext7.bsp: # #ORBNUM BOUNDARY TIME (UTC) DOWNTRK INPLANE NORMAL #------- ----------------------- ------- ------- ------- 19067 2006-04-02T06:48:54.814 0.018 -0.000 0.001 19090 2006-04-04T05:21:54.814 -0.034 -0.001 0.000 19114 2006-04-06T03:58:54.814 -0.011 0.000 0.002 19132 2006-04-07T14:58:54.814 -0.014 -0.000 -0.003 19154 2006-04-09T10:38:54.814 0.006 0.000 0.001 19174 2006-04-11T01:48:54.814 0.028 -0.000 0.007 19191 2006-04-12T11:58:54.814 -0.021 0.000 -0.000 19211 2006-04-14T02:38:54.814 -0.006 -0.000 -0.001 19234 2006-04-16T00:18:54.814 0.014 0.000 0.003 19258 2006-04-17T23:36:54.814 -0.010 0.000 -0.001 19277 2006-04-19T13:04:54.814 0.006 -0.000 0.000 19291 2006-04-20T17:58:54.814 0.016 0.000 -0.003 19313 2006-04-22T14:03:54.814 0.002 -0.000 0.000 19336 2006-04-24T10:23:54.814 -0.007 -0.000 -0.001 19356 2006-04-26T01:53:54.814 0.000 0.000 -0.000 19375 2006-04-27T15:43:54.814 0.023 -0.000 -0.001 19394 2006-04-29T04:33:54.814 0.016 0.000 0.004 19414 2006-04-30T19:48:54.814 -0.051 -0.000 -0.002 19430 2006-05-02T03:38:54.814 0.036 0.000 0.007 19446 2006-05-03T12:43:54.814 -0.010 0.000 0.002 19463 2006-05-04T20:33:54.814 -0.009 0.000 0.000 19482 2006-05-06T10:13:54.814 0.009 -0.000 0.000 19499 2006-05-07T20:38:54.814 0.009 -0.000 0.001 19522 2006-05-09T18:38:54.814 -0.025 -0.000 0.006 19546 2006-05-11T16:38:54.814 0.036 0.000 -0.000 19568 2006-05-13T13:18:54.814 -0.007 -0.000 0.001 19590 2006-05-15T07:28:54.814 0.007 0.000 -0.001 19612 2006-05-17T03:28:54.814 -0.036 0.000 -0.009 19632 2006-05-18T20:13:54.814 0.017 0.000 -0.004 19654 2006-05-20T14:43:54.814 0.021 -0.000 0.005 19676 2006-05-22T10:46:54.814 0.011 0.000 -0.002 19697 2006-05-24T03:18:54.814 0.012 -0.000 0.002 19717 2006-05-25T18:58:54.814 -0.009 0.000 -0.003 19740 2006-05-27T17:30:54.814 -0.041 -0.000 0.012 19761 2006-05-29T10:08:54.815 0.004 0.000 0.001 19784 2006-05-31T06:58:54.815 -0.032 -0.000 0.001 19803 2006-06-01T20:28:54.815 0.023 -0.000 -0.002 19822 2006-06-03T11:03:54.815 0.006 -0.000 0.000 19846 2006-06-05T09:38:54.815 0.005 -0.000 0.000 19863 2006-06-06T19:38:54.815 0.025 -0.000 0.008 19881 2006-06-08T07:23:54.815 0.005 -0.000 0.001 19903 2006-06-10T02:48:54.815 -0.036 0.000 -0.010 19920 2006-06-11T13:28:54.815 -0.003 0.000 0.001 19939 2006-06-13T02:48:54.815 -0.006 -0.000 0.002 19959 2006-06-14T18:28:54.815 0.019 0.000 -0.006 19981 2006-06-16T13:23:54.815 0.057 -0.000 -0.004 20002 2006-06-18T06:53:54.815 -0.033 0.000 0.002 20025 2006-06-20T04:48:54.815 0.028 0.000 -0.010 20049 2006-06-22T02:28:54.815 -0.036 -0.000 0.009 20071 2006-06-23T23:28:54.815 -0.014 -0.000 0.004 20094 2006-06-25T20:28:54.815 -0.019 0.000 -0.003 20117 2006-06-27T17:23:54.815 -0.005 -0.000 -0.001 20136 2006-06-29T06:38:54.815 0.023 0.000 -0.000
