DAFMOD User's Guide =========================================================================== Last revised on 2008 JAN 30 by B. V. Semenov. Abstract -------------------------------------------------------- DAFMOD is an interactive program that modifies various segment attributes of a DAF based kernel -- SPK, CK, or binary PCK. Summary -------------------------------------------------------- DAFMOD is an interactive program that allows the user to modify various attributes of a DAF based kernel -- SPK, CK, or binary PCK. This task should not be under taken without careful thought. It is expected that the user is familiar with the structure and information provided in the SPK, CK, and binary PCK segment descriptors (refer to SPK.REQ, CK.REQ, and PCK.REQ Required Reading documents for more information on this subject.) It is also expected that the user understands the implications which changing a particular segment attribute may cause in the way the data with be used by SPICE software. Usage -------------------------------------------------------- DAFMOD is an interactive program; it prompts the user for all needed inputs. Example -------------------------------------------------------- In this example DAFMOD is used replace MGS SIM ID (-95) with MGS Flight ID (-94) in a test SPK file: > dafmod DAFMOD -- Version 2.0.0, January 30, 2008 -- Toolkit Version N0061 DAFMOD allows you to modify various attributes of a DAF based kernel. This task should not be under taken without careful thought, but if you need to do it... You need to supply: 1) The name of the file 2) The name of the item to modify 3) The old name or id-code of this item 4) The new name or id-code of this item. Here's what you can modify (item): SPK CK PCK object object object frame frame frame target center (for SPK files if you specify object both target and center will be modified.) 1) File : spk_m_010904_OD11140-11209_rec_V1.bsp 2) Item : object 3) Old Value: -95 4) New Value: -94 The file spk_m_010904_OD11140-11209_rec_V1.bsp has been updated. > DAFMOD appends a warning indicating that the file was modified and how it was changed to the comment area of the file, as seen in this output of the COMMNT utility program: > commnt -r spk_m_010904_OD11140-11209_rec_V1.bsp ... ===================================================== !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Warning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ===================================================== This file was modified by the SPICE program "DAFMOD" on a PC running Linux. Date and time modified: 2005-JAN-13 14:13:19 Every occurrence of a body (target or center) in a segment descriptor with idcode -95 was changed to the value -94. This change was performed on the segments in the following list. Segments: 1 2 3 4 >
