PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = ASCII PUBLICATION_DATE = 2018-10-01 NOTE = "FRAMES Kernel Information" END_OBJECT = TEXT END General information about SPICE FRAMES kernels ============================================== In the SPICE system, the FRAMES kernel (FK) contains information required to define reference frames used in a particular mission. This information includes sources of orientation and origin location for these frames and inter-connections between these frames and other frames supported within the SPICE system. The frame definitions information contained in the FK files can be used by a collection of subroutines that are part of the SPICELIB library, the major component of the NAIF Toolkit. These subroutines can be integrated into user application programs. Information about obtaining the SPICE Toolkit is located in the "software" subdirectory of the main directory of this dataset. Refer to the Frames Required Reading (frames.req) document provided with the toolkit or available from the NAIF Node of the PDS, to get more information on how to access FK data. Cassini FRAMES Kernels contained in this directory ================================================== The following Frames Kernel files are included on this volume: cas_v[VER].tf Frames kernel files containing definitions for the Cassini spacecraft, its science instruments, and antennae. cas_rocks_v[VER].tf Frames kernel files containing definitions for small satellites (rocks) of Saturn. cas_dyn_v[VER].tf Frames kernel files containing definitions of a few dynamic frames used by various project science and engineering teams. cas_mimi_v[VER].tf Frames kernel files containing definitions of various frames used by the MIMI team, APL. When multiple FK files of the same kind are present, the one with the latest version ([VER]) supersedes all previous versions. Kernel file details =================== The most detailed description of the data in an FK file is provided in metadata included inside the descriptive text area of the file. This information can be viewed using any text editor.
